Add Some Honey And Stop Feeling Guilty

Monday, September 8th, 2008

According to Greek mythology, the ancient gods of Mount Olympus, like Zeus and Athena, used to eat nectar and ambrosia to maintain their healthy looks and perform their rather unusual human-like activities. Although scholars have not yet concluded on what exactly ambrosia was for ancient Greeks, nectar in botany is a sugar-rich liquid produced by the flowers of plants in order to attract pollinating insects, like honeybees, essential for honey production. Nectar is produced in glands called nectaries, which are located at the base of the perianth, so as to allow pollinators perform their role and accessing the flower’s reproductive structures, the anthers and pistil, while collecting the nectar the flower produces.

The collected nectar is then transported by honeybees to combs where honey is produced. Honey is a sweet and viscous fluid, significantly sweeter than table sugar and has very attractive chemical properties for baking. With its distinct flavor, which leads some people to prefer it over sugar and other sweeteners, honey is a type of food that has great benefits for the human body and its consumption promotes contemporary nutritional habits and healthy dietary demands. Categorized both as a type of food and a natural medicine, honey has been used by a variety of civilizations for different reasons. Ancient Egyptians used it to preserve their dead (mummies), Roman’s as an important cosmetic ingredient and it is mentioned even in the Christian Bible.

Many types of honey exist today and the recent technological developments have created the best possible conditions for honey production and have contributed to its different uses in medicine, food and cosmetic industries. But unfortunately, chemical substances used to increase the honey production and meet the greater demand existing today, have resulted in deteriorating its natural ingredients and even making it dangerous, in rare and extreme cases, for human consumption.

Contemporary consumers have the ability to protect their health by buying honey that is produced by professionals and thus minimize the risk of consuming a product that will not benefit the human body. But even when the honey purchased is produced in accordance to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Guidelines, it is extremely important for us to maintain the appropriate storage conditions and prolong its duration by promoting its safe use. Specifically, honey has to be stored in cool places and we have to avoid storing it close to electric appliances or near sunny windows that raise the temperature in the storage shelve or room. Any kind of utensil used to retrieve honey out of its container has to be totally clean and without any kind of moisture on it. Honey-lovers should follow these simple instructions in order to keep their purchased honey longer and their minds at rest regarding its safe use.

The Death of Poetry

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Death. It’s as much a part of life as being born and, by far, more fascinating to poets. The amount of poetry written about death and dying could lead you to believe that the topic plays on the mind of poets quite frequently. And why shouldn’t it? People have been fascinated with death as far back in history as history goes, so the records tell us.

Ancient Egyptians’ lives were intertwined with their fixation of death and the afterlife. As most people know, Egyptians mummified the body after death and buried it with worldly items it would need in the afterlife. Many of these same Egyptians worshiped Osiris, the king of the dead, who had a large cult following. Greeks believed that mortals lived out the afterlife in Hades. Hades was home to both the Elysian Fields (a paradise) and Tartarus (an abyss of suffering). Modern Christians believe in Heaven (a paradise) and Hell (a place of damnation) and that you are judged upon death then sent to live out your existence in one of the two places. Many other religions believe in reincarnation (the soul being reborn into another body).

No matter what your belief on death, it either already has, or will, touch you at some point in your life - be it sooner or later, you cannot escape it. And when it does touch you, how will you react to it? If you are a poet, perhaps you will write about it. When you do write about it, how will you approach it? Let’s look at a couple of examples of what two others have done.

Emily Dickinson in Because I Could Not Stop for Death takes a very mellow approach to death and is quite accepting of it. She writes:

Because I could not stop for Death–
He kindly stopped for me–
The Carriage held but just Ourselves–
And Immortality.

In complete contrast, Dylan Thomas in Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night states:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

What approach will you take? What angle will you give it? Where are you coming from? Maybe you’ll emulate one of these poets or carve your own path somewhere in between. Whatever the case may be, remember to be descriptive, choose your words carefully, and try to say what you’re going to say in a fresh, new way (I know that’s easier said than done).

Seizing the Moment: The Reality of Being in the Moment

Monday, September 8th, 2008

When you relax in the moment, you are priming the most creative part of your brain, the visualization center in the posterior part of the brain. You supercharge your creative thinking by turning on these visualization centers. It’s not clear why that is, but the observation is right there in living Technicolor. When you relax in the moment, the PET scan lights these centers of visual thought. What scientists believe happens is that when we live entirely in the moment, we free up the brain to think visually by turning off parts of the brain that drain energy away into neurotic and anxious thinking. When you see a great movie, opera, ballet, or sports event, you become totally absorbed in the moment, with your visual centers glowing brightly as the anxious concerns of the day take a rest. It is one of life’s great ironies: We believe we accomplish so much by constantly worrying, when in reality we are preventing ourselves from opening the most magnificent part of the brain, the center of visual thought. Thomas G. West, who has written an excellent book on visual thinking, In the Mind’s Eye, says that many of the great thinkers in history thought visually - physicists Albert Einstein, Michael Faraday, and James Clerk Maxwell are but a few. Many experts believe that visual thinking is the highest form of intelligence. Great athletes also think visually. They live exclusively in the moment and it pays off in Olympic Gold.

For the rest of us who are not Olympians, it is just as critical to strip away energies that are going in any direction but in the moment so that we can light up this most creative part of our brain. Many of us are so preoccupied with what we’re going to do next or what terrible misfortune may befall us or what has already befallen us that we simply fail to operate fully and at our best in the moment. Many people fail to live in the moment because they believe that if you live FOR the moment you will lose your grasp on reality. That’s not what being IN the moment means. If you truly want to grasp the opportunity that is laid in front of you at any given moment, you should be consumed by the moment.

How to Enter the Moment

Become an actor or actress

The very best actors in the world succeed by becoming bold and brave enough to exist only in the moment. You can acquire these same skills. You may think that’s completely wrong because actors and actresses are faking it. However, the very best never fake anything. They are absolutely true to every word that comes out of their mouth. Why? Because they are living totally in the moment, living the lines they are speaking as they speak them. Here’s how you can practice.

READ ALOUD

The best and most practical way of practicing how to be in the moment is to read aloud. Try reading aloud on a daily basis. The key is to truly own the material. Glance at it, lift it off the page, and just say it. Don’t dramatize the line. Think of lines as thoughts or images and let the line do the talking. Say it as if it were it real conversation and you’re the one speaking. Reading aloud will immediately get you to think, act, and be in the moment. If you have children or a spouse, read to them. Or volunteer your time to read to the sick in the hospital - a great way to escape your own troubles and dive into the moment.

Harold Guskin is the most famous acting coach in New York, teaching stars such as Kevin Kline, Glenn Close, and Bridget Fonda. First and foremost, he will teach you not to do anything with the words that you read. By just saying the words as they hit you, you’ll find that your mind colors the words in a wonderful way. Take Robert De Niro as an example. He often speaks in the most understated manner possible. His voice, however, is still exploding with color and meaning. Being in the moment is what matters. Harold says: It is an exploration of the moment without concern for where the moment is going. One’s concentration should not be on how to do something or how to say it but rather on what it is and what it means. For an actor, if you think about how you’re going to do something or how you’re going to say it, you will manipulate the way you say it and it will sound contrived. You want it to sound like a human being so the audience can forget that you’re an actor on stage. Even if what you’re saying is effectively contrived, you will still seem false or ‘actorish’ - or like an ‘old-fashioned actor.’ The key is to say what you mean without trying to fix it up. What you say must be more important than how you say it.

You may say, My life isn’t a goddamn Bruce Willis movie! It’s real life. How can this advice help me? Well, Harold’s advice has to do with courage, trust, and fear, traits most of us, including actors, have trouble with. Once you have mastered reading aloud in the moment, carry these techniques into conversations with friends and relatives, then colleagues at work. You’ll be amazed how useful this skill will be in meetings with your boss or coworkers, dinner dates, or gatherings with your family. Rather than rambling, you’ll be talking and listening to others as if there were nothing else going on in the universe, and as a result, all of your interactions will become more fresh and alive and you’ll suddenly find yourself much more attractive to others.

Here’s how you can incorporate Harold’s advice into your everyday life: Concentrate on each word you say as you say it. Block out all other thoughts. Don’t try to monitor yourself or think ahead. Most of us try to prepare the next couple of sentences, but that makes us extremely dull and predictable. When you look at a really great talent, say David Letterman, he literally doesn’t know where he’s going next because he’s exploring the moment. That’s what makes him so unexpectedly funny. You will be amazed how creative you really are when you just allow the next thought to come. Be assured that it really will come and will be far more interesting than whatever rote statements, stories, or jokes you might have prepared. Success in my own career during TV and radio interviews and public speaking was having the courage to just let the next thought come rather than preparing rote answers. This allowed for the unexpected and made me much fresher and more interesting than if I simply rattled off a bunch of facts. You’ll be amazed at how much more positive and natural an impression you’ll make. When you do thinking work, such as writing a proposal or reading a document, try to be totally in the moment so that you are consumed by what you’re writing or reading. Read it aloud. Allow yourself to read and reread it aloud to find innovative solutions to problems you thought were insoluble.

Next time we’ll look at Selflessness and its role in Seizing the Moment.

What Are The Effects Of Divorce In The Personality Of Babies?

Monday, September 8th, 2008

No studies can really tell us how your particular baby or toddler will react to your divorce; each baby is unique. Babies are born with their basic personality, namely, his or her own particular way of eating, sleeping and eliminating. These basic qualities determine how this little individual will react to stressful situations, from infancy all the way to adulthood. Basically, the baby at birth has all the qualities for the personality that will come later.

Baby temperaments may vary, but the need for consistency and love during these first vulnerable years is important to every baby. For example, in visitation, a baby under two should not be moved between parents, but should stay in one home while the absent parent visits him.

A baby needs a relationship with a “primary caretaker,” one adult who provides a consistent relationship. Psychologists have found that young babies develop human attachment by bonding with just one person. It’s all right to have many people in a baby’s life, but there must be one constant person so he or she can develop a bond. Be very careful not to use your baby as a pawn in your divorce. There was a recent article about a baby that was regularly “kidnapped” by one parent from the other. The mother said she was the better parent and the baby belonged with her. The father said the mother suffered from postpartum depression, and the baby would be better off with him and his girlfriend. But neither parent was truly consistent in bonding with the baby. And this baby was born prematurely, so he was especially in need of consistent bonding.

It is particularly important that a single parent tries to avoid the temptation to over or under-parent a baby. Babies do need stimulation and cuddling, but they also need peace and tranquility. If a parent is distant emotionally, and ignores a baby’s cry, the baby will sense this and become irritated or tense. Or a parent will often use the baby as a source of their own comfort after a divorce, effectively transmitting their own anxiety to the baby. This, too, can make the baby irritated and tense. Babies will pick up on the parent’s anxiety during the divorce process, and then this anxiety becomes the baby’s, as well.

Sometimes the parent is just too preoccupied or depressed and cannot effectively care for the infant or the divorce is causing too much chaos in the household. At these times the baby may be better off staying temporarily with a guardian or relative until the parent is ready for full-time parenting. The parent who needs to do this may feel guilty about their perceived inability to cope, but it’s far better for the baby to live in a secure environment outside of the home and then return to it later when the environment is more stable.

Babies are very resilient, and they can endure, even when faced with early stress. Many children, through the years, have grown up emotionally whole and psychologically strong, even though they may have had adverse childhood experiences. And even those babies who do suffer emotional abandonment do not have to carry the wounds through a lifetime. Child development experts agree, if the child’s circumstances improve and change, especially during the crucial ages of two and six, the negative effects of early childhood neglect can be reversed.

Make Money With Your Music In Films Just By Talking To People

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Licensing you music into films is a great extra income stream for you as an independent artist. But, as with any other aspect of the music business, you have to go through the learning curve and networking process. My experience with film licensing, just like everything else, revolves around whom you know.

Your first (or tenth) licensing deal probably won’t be the next Hollywood blockbuster, but that’s ok. There are a zillion independent films that need and want your music. No, you won’t be immediately rich and famous from having a song in an indie film, but you will probably get paid, and you’ll get some good exposure. Remember, a good ling music career is not built on one big hit. It’s built on a series of small projects and successes building to bigger ones, and, of course, multiple streams of income.

With that in mind, independent films are a great place to start. So where do you begin? Well, listing sites like Versus Media, Film Music Network, and Taxi are a good place to start, but it’s hard to rely on a steady income from people you’ve never met. Also, something I’ve learned recently from a couple of music supervisors, is that follow up on your package is not required, nor particularly appreciated. So you really are relying on your package and your music being picked out of the pile. However, the listing services will give you access to projects you may not have known about otherwise. They are, therefore, a good investment.

An even better way to hook into independent films is to go out and meet film people. As musicians we tend to get stuck in our own little world. Hanging out with musicians, going to music workshops and events, etc. You must take your product to the people who need it instead of waiting for them to come to you.

A great place to start is Indie Club. This is a worldwide organization of independent filmmakers, actors, crew, and everyone else. Find your local chapter through the IndieClub.com website. It’s free to join. Where I am, San Francisco, we have the country’s largest chapter. Join their discussion list and introduce yourself as a music artist. Go to their meetings and get-togethers. When I went to my first Indie Club meeting, I was one of two music artists in the room. The cries of “We need you!” were not just the voices in my head (this time). That room full of independent filmmakers was looking for good music that they could license and still stay within their budget.

I scored my first licensing deal within an hour. Two songs in the same film, one I’d already written, the other to be written specifically for the movie. My tactic was simple. Ask them about their latest project. They’ll be happy to tell you about it, I assure you. They’ll ask what you do. Tell them, but don’t exaggerate. I explained that I had not yet written for films, but just came to see where I fit in. This particular filmmaker then explained to me that he couldn’t find a particular song for this one scene he was working on. I told him I’d be happy to custom write it for him. And there it was. I was being paid up front to write a song. How much? I received $100 for the new song, $50 for the previously written and recorded one. Like I said, you won’t get rich off of these. But hey, $50 to let him use a song that I’d paid for long ago is free money to me.

For the new song, the director arranged for recording time at the local recording arts school where his sound editor was studying. This was fortuitous, and not necessarily normal. Most other project I have to record myself. Because I kept the copyright for the song (which you should always try to do), I was able to release the new song on one of my future CDs, which put more money in my pocket. There’s that multiple streams of income again. And, as a topper, I was able to perform at the premier and sell more CDs there as well. I got all that just for showing up to a meeting and talking to people. I made a few other deals at that meeting too.

So the moral of the story is to just go where filmmakers are and talk to them. Besides Indie Club, I’m sure there are other film clubs and organizations in your area. Find them and make yourself a part of them. Get to know everyone, and you have your tunes in the movies in no time!

Next time: How to get your music in movies by getting yourself in movies!

Fighting Back Against Speeding Fines And Penalty Points

Fighting Back Against Speeding Fines And Penalty Points

The hard pressed UK motorist is, and always will be considered a soft target in the eyes of the individual, the law and the numerous motoring associations. And not without good reason.

Any rise in the cost of oil prices is almost immediately passed on to the motorist at the petrol pumps. Every budget offers the Chancellor another opportunity to raise the cost of the Road Fund Licence (car tax), and, although insurance companies are currently cutting each other’s throats to offer us cheaper cover, they’ll fight you all the way should you be unlucky enough to have to make a claim.

Then there are congestion charges, wheel clamping campaigns and ever increasing parking fees to contend with, especially near airports and in hospital car parks.

But, top of the list of all the motorist money squeezing opportunities is without a doubt, the speeding fine. Almost every driver will break the speed limit of some road at some time, either intentionally, due to some urgent ‘mission’, or most likely because of a momentary of lack of concentration.

There are currently than 5,400 static camera sites in the UK and just under 3,500 mobile speed units in operation, so just about anyone is likely to get caught at any given time. Unfortunately for some, they will get caught more than once, which could leave them in very precarious position concerning their future driving excursions.

It’s reported that almost a million motorists in the UK are on the brink of facing a driving ban due to the 12 point totting up system. And with 2 million motorists falling victim to speed cameras and mobile units last year, there’s obviously no shortage of future potential disqualifications lying on the file.

The Safety Camera Partnership, operating under the guise of a road safety campaign organisation, is considered to be one of the most profitable government ‘businesses’ of all time, raking in more than ?120 million in fines during last year alone. Yet according to Safe Speed, the road safety campaign organization, around 95 percent of road crashes have absolutely nothing to do with speeding.

However, the threat of disqualification due to the accumulation of penalty points on the UK motorist’s driving licence is ever present, and for many, it will undoubtedly be the speed camera which will be responsible.

In some areas of the UK, motorists have openly demonstrated their opposition to these ‘fund raising’ devices. Some have vented their anger by defacing or setting fire to cameras and some have successfully won their speeding cases in the courts. The clear message to motorists is, don’t just accept it, fight back.

More recently, vital information has been made available to drivers to enable them to ‘know their rights’, in the event of facing a speeding fine or even a ban. It would appear that even the lucrative safety camera ‘money spinner’ operation has a few flaws and loopholes.

Every motorist who values their driving licence would be well advised to find out more about the information now becoming openly available. It’s not often the ordinary UK driver has an opportunity to fight back and protect their precious permit, affording them the absolute freedom to travel.

Tony Harper.

Lawsuit Loan! No-Risk Legal Finance!!

Lawsuit Loan! No-Risk Legal Finance!!

99% of plaintiffs involved in lawsuits don’t realize they can get cash advance before their case settles. It is called Lawsuit funding or often referred as Lawsuit loans, Legal finance, Lawsuit cash advance or Personal injury settlement. But these are not loans because the money does not have to be paid back unless the case is won or settled.

These are non- recourse cash advances. It carries no risk because plaintiffs owe nothing if they lose the case. The client must be represented by an Attorney, and need money prior to settlement due to financial hardship.

Lawsuit loan or Legal finance can provide a very timely financial solution to help plaintiffs who are having financial difficulties. Usually the plaintiff’s financial hardship is the result of being injured and not being able to work.

Mostly plaintiffs have missed work or lost their job and can no longer meet their mortgage/ rent or car payments. Many of them may be one or two payments away from foreclosures. They may be in need of medical treatments. They need to pay children’s education expenses.

But now these new Lawsuit loans are great help to plaintiffs. In the past, these claimants have needed to accept lesser settlement amounts due to pressing financial difficulties. Now, clients can sustain their personal lives and give the attorney the necessary time to achieve the full value of the case.

The process to receive Lawsuit loan or Legal finance is risk free & simple. There is no application or upfront fees. Approval is fast. Plaintiff may have a bad or no credit. There are no monthly payments. They pay back only when they win or settle the case. They owe nothing if they lose the case. They can use the cash advance in any way they like.

Legal Finance: How does it work? This total process is confidential, prompt and discreet:

1. The first step is to complete an Application Form. Making an application is free and there is no obligation
2. Plaintiff authorizes attorney to release case information to underwriters
3. Quick and thorough underwriting process to qualify client.
4. If approved plaintiff completes funding agreement
5. Bank check delivered to plaintiff
6. Plaintiff payback upon successful settlement/verdict of case
7. If plaintiff loses case, plaintiff owes nothing to funding company

Legal Finance is available for many types of cases. Some of them are:

A. Personal Injury, Automobile Accidents, Pedestrian injury any Type
B. Pharmaceutical Litigation like Zyprexa etc.
C. Asbestos / Mesothelioma lawsuit
D. Tobacco/Smoking cases
E. Slip & Fall Cases, Burn Injuries
F. Nursing Home Abuses
G. Breach of Contract
H. Class Action/Product Liability
I. Employment Discrimination
J. Judgments, Verdicts, Appeals
K. Malpractice: Medical-Legal, Accounting, Construction etc.
L. Harassment: Sexual/Rape, Any Type
M. Workers Comp. cases (not in all cases)
N. Wrongful Termination
O. Wrongful Death
P. Patent or Copyright infringement & other Intellectual Property
Q. Real Estate Disputes
And Many More…

A lot of people & businesses are being forced to settle early for way less than they deserve because they simply can’t afford to wait any longer. There is no reason for them to settle for less than their case is worth.

Keep Your Information Secure

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Encryption is the process of storing information in a way so as to make it unreadable without special knowledge. Encryption has been used to protect communications and secure information for centuries, but only organizations and individuals with an great need for secrecy had made use of it.

Julius Caeser is the first known user of an encryption system. His system was known as Caeser’s keys. He wanted to send messages, but did not want the messengers to read them. To prevent this, he used an alphabetic substitution in his messages; replacing A with D , B with E , C with F , etc. The recipient of the message was aware of the secret of the encryption, so for him it was very straightforward to decipher the message.

An example of a sentence using Caeser’s keys is below. It is not difficult to see the pattern.
Plain Text: THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOG
Cipher Text: WKH TXLFN EURZQ IRA MXPSHG RYHU WKH ODCB GRJ

Obviously, this method of encryption is not very secure. Though encryption has been around for thousands of years, only in the last century have we seen great advancement in the field of cryptography.

The invention of computers changed the face of cryptography completely. Computers were able to calculate much faster than the people who worked on them, and suddenly an encrypted message could be broken within a few minutes on a normal PC, and consequesntly the message was no longer secure. In response to the need for new and secure methods of encryption, the cryptographic world flourished in the latter part of the 20th century. In the mid-1970s, strong encryption emerged from the preserve of secretive government agencies into the public.

In cryptography, the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES); also known as Rijndael, is a block cipher adopted as an encryption standard by the US government. Rijndael is used worldwide and analysed extensively. Rijndael became effective as a standard May 26, 2002. As of 2006, Rijndael is one of the most popular algorithms used in symmetric key cryptography.

The cipher was developed by two Belgian cryptographers, Joan Daemen and Vincent Rijmen, from whose surnames the term Rijndael was conceived. The cipher was submitted to the AES selection process, stating that Rijndael was designed based on the following three criteria:

1) Resistance against all known attacks
2) Speed and code compactness on a wide range of platforms
3) Design simplicity

Rijndael was evaluated by the National Security Agency (NSA), based on its security, its cost and its algorithm and implementation characteristics. There were several candidate algorithms, but Rijndael was selected as it had the best combination of security, performance, efficiency, ease of implementation and flexibility. NSA stated that Rijndael was secure enough for US Government non-classified data. In June 2003, the US Government announced that Rijndael may be used for classified information.

It is the mark of good quality software if it uses the Rijndael encryption method to secure information.

One such program is Info Manager. PortaWhiz Info Manager uses the Rijndael encrytion method to keep your information secure. The program gives you one place on your Pocket PC your desktop where you can organize and store all of your important information into neat folders. This means that all your important information is stored together, in neat and tidy bundles; which are easy to retrieve at any time you require. Only the bearer of the administrator password will then possibly be able to access it.

The program is available at www.portawhiz.com http://www.portawhiz.com .

Fulfilling Our Basic Need of Self Protection

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Self preservation of we and our loved ones is one of man’s basic needs. It is inherent in every single one of us. Mankind craves security.

I don’t know why it is but every time my wife and I go to see her cousin in San Diego I get to thinking about self-defense. You see, my wife’s cousin just turned 60 but he is still active in karate and has been able to stay in condition. I think it’s great that he can do this, and I’m sure his knowledge of the martial arts would be of great help to him if he or his family were ever attacked and had to defend themselves.

I sit and ponder what the result would be for me or my family who have had no formal martial art backgrounds and are possibly handicapped due to our physical disabilities. How do we prevent ourselves from becoming victims? What would you do in my place?

I have investigated crime reports and their recommendations. Pretty much across the board they recommend using some common sense and avoidance of situations and scenarios that give the edge to the criminal.

For example: Street Safety. Using common sense.

1. Stay in well lighted, busy areas. Avoid walking alone and avoid known trouble spots.

2. When you carry a purse, hold it close to your body rather than by the handles. Do not wrap purse straps around your wrist, because you can get hurt in a struggle.

3. Carry only what you need in a purse or wallet, not everything you have.

4. Avoid using shortcuts through dark alleys, fields, or vacant lots.

5. If you think you’re being followed, cross the street and change directions a few times. Go quickly to a well-lighted place with lots of people. Do not go home. You don’t want an attacker to know where you live.

There may come a time when we have taken all the recommended precautions and still find ourselves in a position to be victimized by criminals. Is there anything else we can do? You bet!

Today we have the benefit of technology such as self-defense devices and surveillance equipment in the forms of personal alarms, pepper spray, nanny cams, etc. When we decide to use this technology we must use it wisely and become familiarized with its operation. Having knowledge about how these devices are properly used is very important.

Society’s institutions no longer have the capability to protect you and your family as they once had. For the last twenty years or so the nation’s crime rate has greatly increased.

Obviously our nation and society have become a dangerous place in which to live and raise our children. The laws and institutions designed to protect us are failing to do so.
